HousingYCAP provides three homeless shelters for homeless families with children and single women. Two shelters are located in McMinnville and one in Newberg. The length of stay averages 3-6 months while residents are given assistance in rebuilding self-sufficiency. YCAP also coordinates a HOME Tenant-Based Assistance program (HOME TBA) that assists low-income people in obtaining and maintaining safe and affordable housing by providing rent and security deposit assistance. Shelter and rental assistance clients are required to participate in a case management program aimed at self-sufficiency. In 2006-07, Housing services sheltered 41 homeless families (with 69 more on a waiting list), and provided 47 families with rental assistance. |
