We believe our program of services and activities listed below not only improve the quality of life for our youth and their families, but also improve their safety, well-being, and self-sufficiency, while assisting in making permanent connections in very measurable ways.  

By creative community partnering, and leveraging with a variety of agencies throughout the county, our program provides the following services free of charge:

  • Short-term emergency youth shelter, ages 11-17

  • Long-term youth transitional living program, ages 16-21

  • County-wide Street Outreach to community at-risk youth

  • Survival aid for youth in crisis

  • Case management/ family support services

  • Counseling and mental health services

  • Needs assessments, evaluations, and referrals for additional support and family mediation services

  • Mentoring, Tutoring and “Study Hall”

  • Creative afterschool and evening enrichment activities

  • Best Practices Peer Skills and Support Groups for youth

  • Alcohol, tobacco and other drug prevention programs & activities

  • Evening “Drop-In” youth recreational and support services center in Newberg

  • Youth employment and educational supports

  • Comprehensive summer programming

  • Summer youth entrepreneurial program – The Blueberry Project

  • Youth leadership development opportunities – including youth volunteerism

Our youth services are provided throughout all of Yamhill County and are under the leadership of the Youth Outreach department of YCAP. 

Our main office and Newberg Drop-In Center is in Newberg at 719 E. First Street and the McMinnville Drop-In Center is located at 335 NE 6th Street.

Operating hours are 9 am – 8 pm Monday through Friday year round. All of our services are free. If you have questions, call 503-538-8023.

YOUTH LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

The Youth Advisory Council consists of a diversified group of youth up to age 21, representing a number of communities in our county. Former runaways, homeless and street youth, culturally and racially diverse youth, and representatives of every socio-economic levels of the community are members of YAC.

The Youth Advisory Council gives input in our program development, operation and evaluation of quality youth services. The YAC assists in community education, speaking on behalf of the Youth Services department; in the development, operations, and evaluation of our Drop-In Center; in peer mentoring and outreach; and in planning activities and local community service projects.
